In Silverfin, you have the ability to manage user access based on their role and the needs of your organization. Whether you want to manage staff members, external collaborators, or Pulse users, this guide will help you make the necessary adjustments. Read on to discover how, as an admin user, you can adjust the access for different types of users.

Key Information

Only admin users can change user access. Here are the different adjustments you can make:

  • From staff to Pulse user
  • From Pulse user to staff (if they were originally created as staff)
  • From external collaborator to Pulse user
  • From Pulse user to external collaborator (if they were originally created as an external collaborator)

It is not possible to change a staff user to an external user and vice versa. If you need to make this change, contact support@silverfin.com and provide the email address of the user involved.

Steps to Adjust Access

1. From Staff to Pulse User

  • Firm Level:
    1. Go to 'Users' and select 'Staff'.
    2. Click on the user's name.
    3. Uncheck the 'Multi-file access' option.
    4. Change the access to Pulse user.
    5. Add the specific file.
  • File Level:
    1. Go to the 'Users' page within the file.
    2. Click on the 'Edit' button next to the user you want to modify.
    3. Choose the new role in the pop-up.

2. From Pulse User to Staff (if they were created as staff)

  • Identification: Internal Pulse users have the 'limited access' tag in the user list.
  • Edit:
    • Firm Level:
      1. Go to 'Users' and select 'Staff'.
      2. Click on the user's name.
      3. Change the access to staff member.
    • File Level:
      1. Go to the 'Users' page within the file.
      2. Click on the 'Edit' button next to the user.
      3. Choose the new role in the pop-up.

3. From External Collaborator to Pulse User

  • File Level:

    1. Go to the 'Users' page within the file.

    2. Click on the 'Edit' button next to the user.

    3. Choose the new role in the pop-up.

4. From Pulse User to External Collaborator (if they were created as an external collaborator)

  • Firm Level:
    • Pulse users can be created at the office level under 'Staff' or 'External'.
    • Only Pulse users in the 'External' tab can be converted to external collaborators.
  • File Level:
    1. Go to the 'Users' page within the file.
    2. Click on the 'Edit' button next to the Pulse user.
    3. Change their role to external collaborator.

Summary
