This article explains how to connect Silverfin with Exact Online to synchronise accounting data. Once the connection is established, any changes made in Exact Online (EOL) will sync with Silverfin.

How to set up synchronisation with Exact Online on the firm level?

Only users with admin rights can set up synchronisation on the firm level.

To establish the connection, please follow these steps:

  1. In the firm overview screen click on the 'Syncs' tab.
  2. Click the 'Add new sync' button and choose 'Bookkeeping sync'. 
  3. From the drop-down menu, choose Exact Online sync and click 'Connect'. Provide a name to your synchronisation.
  4. You will be redirected to the accounting software login page.

How to set up synchronisation with Exact Online on the file level?

To link existing synchronisation with the client file, please perform the following steps:

  1. Go to the file and click on the 'Edit client' button.
  2. Click on the 'Sync' tab.
  3. Click 'Set up Sync'.
  4. Choose one of the provided synchronisation scenarios. If you choose the first scenario, you will be promoted to set up sync transfer date.
  5. Choose Exact Online from the list of available synchronisations and choose a sync reference. 
Figures are updated automatically every night with the latest data in Silverfin. To retrieve updated figures during the day, use the synchronisation arrows next to the client file name.

What should I do if I don't see all the references linked to Exact Online sync entity? 

If some references are missing, ensure that the files you wish to synchronize are added to the Silverfin Application in Exact Online. Refer to the video below for guidance on how to complete this process.

After completing these steps, refresh the list of references in Silverfin. You can find the refresh button in the synchronisation setup section of the client file.

How to reconnect (re-authenticate) synchronisation with Exact Online?

Sometimes, the sync with Exact Online is lost and needs to be renewed for data to continue syncing with Silverfin. This can occur if access rights to the data have been accidentally revoked or if the connection becomes invalid after a certain period.

There’s no need for concern; no work will be lost. The link needs to be re-established for the sync to resume.

To reconnect synchronisation, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to the sync page at the firm level.
  2. Click on the sync you need to reconnect.
  3. Click 'Reconnect' button.
  4. You will be redirected to the accounting software login page. 

Does Silverfin support sync of documents from Exact Online? 

Silverfin supports syncing documents. Once a document is linked to a transaction in Exact Online, it will appear in Silverfin as well. Depending on the number of documents, it may take some time for all of them to become visible in Silverfin after the sync is complete.
